Realme has finally taken the wraps off its second tablet, the Pad 2. It’s on pre-order from July 26 and will go on sale on August 1.
The Pad 2 sports an 11.5-inch IPS LCD display with a 2000×1200 px resolution. The screen also offers blue light protection.
Price
The Realme Pad 2 starts at Rs. 19,999 and will be available to purchase starting August 1 from Flipkart, Realme stores, and their official website. The tablet has 6GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage options.
The new tablet is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor with optional virtual RAM expansion of up to 16GB. The Pad 2 also features a massive 8,360mAh battery with 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging for prolonged video playback backup.
The display is upgraded to an 11.5-inch IPS LCD screen with symmetrical bezels, 120Hz refresh rate, 450 nits peak brightness, and supports 1.07 billion colors. The device also offers hardware-level eye care and read mode for reduced eye strain. It runs on Android 13 with Realme UI for Pad and features useful software tools like multi-screen collaboration, smart sidebar, split screen, and dual windows.
Display
The Realme Pad 2 has an 11.5-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is a significant improvement over the original Realme Pad’s screen.
The tablet feels sturdy and offers a premium feel in hand. The brushed aluminum back is scratch-resistant and also resists fingerprints and smudges.
The tablet uses the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It has Dolby Atmos speakers for immersive content viewing and audio. The tablet also has a decent rear camera with an eight-megapixel sensor and a front camera for video calls. It ships with Android 13 and Realme UI 4.0 out of the box. The new Realme UI has features like Reading Mode, Smart Sidebar, and more.
Camera
The tablet houses an 8,360mAh battery and supports 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging. It is claimed to offer up to 17 hours of video playback backup.
Software-wise, the Realme Pad 2 runs on Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0. It offers features like reading mode, smart sidebar, multi-screen collaboration, dual windows, and split screen.
The 8MP front camera has a 105-degree wide-angle lens and dual-mic for better audio pickup during Duo and meetings on Skype. It also has a Video Color Enhancer that improves video quality by boosting contrast and widening the color gamut. However, the UI is missing some features that you might expect from an Android tablet. For instance, long pressing on the home screen prevents you from choosing a wallpaper. There is no Google Discover feed on the UI, and you can’t customize the icon shape or size.
Battery
The Realme Pad 2 is reportedly set to launch with a redesigned back panel. This has been inferred from a now-deleted report on Detectors that claims the tablet will sport a two-tone metallic design with a circular camera island.
The FCC listing also revealed that the Realme Pad 2 will have a larger 8360mAh battery, a significant upgrade from the original Realme Pad’s 7100mAh cell. It will also support 33W fast charging, a major improvement over the 18W fast charging speed on the OG Realme Pad.
Other hardware specifications include an 11.5-inch IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 450 nits peak brightness. A MediaTek Helio G99 SoC will power it with up to 8GB of RAM. It will run on Realme UI 4.0 based on Android 13.
Software
The Realme Pad 2 is a follow-up to the company’s first tablet, which debuted in 2021. The new device is designed to be a multimedia companion on a budget.
The tablet packs an 11.5-inch LCD panel that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. It also dynamically switches between 40Hz, 60Hz, and 120 Hz to adapt to your watching content.
MediaTek Helio G99 powers it and comes with 6GB of RAM and a choice of 128GB or 256GB of storage. It runs Android 13 on Realme UI 4.0 for Pad and offers a variety of productivity features like multi-screen collaboration, flexible windows, and Google Kids Space.
The Realme Pad 2 will receive an update to Android 12 in Q3 2022 and three years of security updates.
